This is the description of one of the16 Past Life Patterns. These patterns were developed by KarenDowning, in order to help you understand how past life experiences affect yourlife today. The Merchant Description – The Merchantunderstands the world around them by equating things and people with theirperceived value. This perceived value is based on both emotional value andmonetary value. The Merchant is comfortable understanding their life in thisway due to many past life experiences where they were involved in trade andcommerce. The Merchant feels most confident while negotiating a deal,researching, dealing with numbers, or assessing something’s (or even someone’s)value. Deep down the Merchant has a fear of going broke, and of having theirresources or livelihood stolen from them.

 

商人模式

The Merchant is adept atbusiness transactions, buying and selling, mathematics, patterns and numbers.The Merchant is usually a technology whiz, and loves to have the newestgadgets. Often times, the Merchant can seem aloof or even distant to others,however they are simply lost in thought with some calculations or problem totackle. The Merchant is here now to learn the importance of relationships,intimacy and compassion in the equation of life.

Some of the typical past lifeexperiences of the Merchant are: working in trade or commerce, being a merchantor business person, being an entrepreneur, working in banking, accounting orthe stock market. If you assess the world around you through numbers and value,then you hold the past life pattern of the Merchant.

Expression of the MerchantPattern in Your Life Now – The Merchant loves to talk about numbers, statistics, sales, andbusiness deals. They like to be involved in many social activities, but willview social activities as a way to network and make deals. Even with all oftheir knowledge and business savvy, the Merchant fears that another person willtry to take advantage of them in a bad business deal. The Merchant definitelylikes to do their due diligence before proceeding with any partnerships.However, if they are in sales, they are not as discerning when it comes to whomthey will sell to.

If you express the Merchantpattern, you will need to balance your connection with numbers and yourconnection to people. You need people in your life to make your numbers work.But, you have to learn to let go of the tendency to try to need numbers in yourlife to make people work. This equation is one-way only.

The Merchant, in their pastlife situations, based their self-worth on their business holdings and businessstrategy. Many times, because they have earned large sums of money, they havebeen the target of theft, deception, kidnapping, arson and other similarcriminal acts. This creates a belief within the Merchant that their possessionsmake them a target for others, and they feel that others will lie, steal orcheat to obtain what the Merchant has earned through hard work. Because of thisinner belief, the Merchant is very suspicious of who they will give their moneyto. On the other hand, the Merchant will accept money from nearly anyone. Thismakes them great in sales jobs. However, in other job roles, the Merchant willhave trust issues. They will have a tendency to mistrust others, without anyevidence. This can make team collaboration very tricky. The Merchant is here tolook at the relationship of people with money and resources, not just to viewpeople as resources.

There are two ways that theMerchant theme reveals itself; The Timid Merchant and the Crafty Merchant. Ifyou resonate with The Merchant pattern, you might discover that you can possessqualities of one, or even both, of the ways that The Merchant is expressed.Often in one area of life you can feel one way, and in another area of lifefeel another way.

The Timid Merchant – The Timid Merchantprefers to hide behind their numbers. They are not extremely social, but tendto communicate about their work, projects, finance, numbers or research. Tomany others, this communication style can make the Timid Merchant seem likethey do not care. However, they do care about others, they just show their careby numerical means. If you are someone who hides behind numbers, knows lots ofrandom facts, and thinks accounting is fun, then you showcase the past lifepattern of the Timid Merchant. The Timid Merchant’s biggest lesson is to stepout from behind the numbers of life, and experience more of the non-measurabledynamics such as love, joy and compassion.

 

腼腆型商人

The Crafty Merchant – The Crafty Merchant isthe perpetual salesperson. It does not matter where they are or who they arewith, they will feel a need to discuss whatever project or money making schemethey have going on. This is a skill set that eventually will land them manysales, but usually not as many friends. The Crafty Merchant has a deep downfear of being hoodwinked, so in an attempt to gain the upper hand, they will beprone to use questionable tactics to beat out any competition. The CraftyMerchant also uses numbers and statistics to get their way. It is not theirfault if they obscure some of the facts in doing so, as they think you shouldhave done the research too! If you are someone who talks about finance andcommerce frequently, has a deep fear of being duped and spends a lot of yourspare time socializing, then you showcase the past life pattern of the CraftyMerchant. The Crafty Merchant’s biggest lesson is to release the need to getone over on others before they can do the same in return. The Crafty Merchantis here to learn to trust.

 

狡猾型商人
